Organizational Structure of St. Matthew Elementary School
At St. Matthew Elementary School, both teachers and students are organized according to a unit system and in professional learning committees (PLC).
In all grade levels, our essentials staff of music/band, physical education, technology, art, and library are taught by a specialist. We also employ an intervention/enrichment teacher and guidance counselor.
Accountability of the Administration and Staff
St. Matthew Elementary operates under the guidance and accountability of the Dubuque Archdiocesan Office of Education, ensuring both the quality and integrity of our educational program. The Archdiocesan Office maintains ongoing communication with the school principal and regularly monitors school operations through visits and collaboration.
Every five years, St. Matthew’s administration and faculty complete a comprehensive self-evaluation of the school’s educational program. This process is followed by a formal review conducted by a team of principals, teachers, and Archdiocesan representatives. After the visit, the team provides a written summary of its findings along with recommendations for continued growth and improvement.
Additionally, the Metropolitan Office of Catholic Education coordinates and supports the collaborative efforts of all Catholic schools in the Cedar Rapids and Marion area. This office serves as a vital liaison between local Catholic schools, the public school system, and the Archdiocesan Office of Education.
